Cozy up your home for Fall

It would appear that fall has arrived in our city of Victoria, British Columbia. After all that beautiful weather, we realize how truly spoiled we were this year. The rains are moving in and drizzly gray days are upon us. To help keep your family feeling warm and cozy this season, we've curated some ideas and tricks to help inspire you to make your home feel warm and cozy throughout the season.

1. Curb Appeal

Invite your friends and family into your home by making the front entry look warm and welcoming. A great way to do this is by adding colour and texture to your front porch or entry with some potted flowers and colourful pumpkins.

2. Create "cozy" with throw blankets and textured toss cushions

A great way to freshen up your interior space each season is to switch out your throw blankets and toss cushions as the seasons change. Create a cozy feeling for hibernating by adding layers of textured faux fur, wool, knits, velvet and suede throughout your homes.

This is a collection of our favorite blankets to cozy up with:

3. Baskets

Not only are baskets a great way to add texture, personality and style to your home, they're also awesome for storage. They tuck away everything from your kid's toys, throws and pillows, to cleaning supplies and laundry. They're versatile with hundreds of options for you to choose from. You are sure to find just the right one to suit your home.

Some of our favorites styles are:

4. Gold and black

Black is always on trend, bringing so much dimension and class to your space. This is especially true during the fall and winter months. Gold is a classic choice, bringing warmth polish to your decor. Another alternative is the very current copper and rose gold variations. Gold is a fun way to dress up your table and/or kitchen while entertaining, with the bonus transitioning you seamlessly into the festive holiday season.

These few options are easy to add to any space:

5. Bring the outdoors in, with seasonal foliage and cuttings

One of our very favorite ways to bring texture and life to any space is to add elements of nature into your space. For the fall season these options keep it simple and clean, but really create impact. We suggest anything from foraging in your back yard and neighborhood for seasonal branches and cuttings, to pumpkins scattered strategically throughout the home. Purchase some really good faux foliage to store and bring out year after year. Invest in these pieces, as some of the less expensive options can look very artificial and less authentic.

Here's a couple faux options we particularly love for fall and winter decor:
